Online sales bucking the trend of the global downturn
According to research by IMRG both January and February 2009 have seen large year on year leaps in online sales with reports indicating a rise by 19% and 13% respectively.
In a plight to make their disposable money go even further the UK's consumers are turning to the Internet, despite the less than rosy picture on the UK's high street. Danielle Attard, Comgem's Head of Marketing commented "It appears that consumers are altering their spending patterns and making more planned and informed decisions. Buying online fulfils this, but also provides greater convenience, choice and more competitive pricing."
With no sign of the recession ending, it is a perfect time for companies targeting both other businesses and the consumer markets to strengthen their online activities through an ecommerce website, that will generate 24-7 sales. "An ecommerce website is an extremely effective way to deliver a return on investment on your marketing spend" added Ms Attard "many of our customers have benefited from the results delivered by trading online and have online activities that are now more successful than traditional marketing approaches".
