According to research by IMRG both January and February 2009 have seen large year on year leaps in online sales with reports indicating a rise by 19% and 13% respectively.

In a plight to make their disposable money go even further the UK's consumers are turning to the Internet, despite the less than rosy picture on the UK's high street. Danielle Attard, Comgem's Head of Marketing commented "It appears that consumers are altering their spending patterns and making more planned and informed decisions. Buying online fulfils this, but also provides greater convenience, choice and more competitive pricing."
